According to Variety, on March 1, while walking to a coffee shop, Karen Fukuhara was approached by a strange man who hit her on the head so hard that her hat flew off. Fukuhara said this was the first time she was attacked and luckily her health was fine.
The Suicide Squad actress shared on Instagram: “We had never made eye contact with each other before, nor did I do anything unusual with him. I was surprised to be assaulted by this guy. After a few seconds of looking Staring at each other, he shouted at me and then left.”
Initially, Fukuhara intended to respond, but she realized it was quite risky. She was relieved that the attacker was not carrying a deadly weapon. Fukuhara said he is considering taking self-defense classes after this shock.
“What satisfaction do these guys get by hitting women, Asians, the elderly? They need to be held accountable. As a community, let’s stop such horrendous crimes,” Fukuhara wrote and used the hashtag #StopAsianHate in the post.
Karen Fukuhara was born in 1992, is a Japanese-American actress. She is known for her roles as Kimiko Miyashiro in the film The Boys and Katana in Suicide Squad. In addition, she also voiced the character Glimmer in the series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix and Kipo in Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.
