The very premise of Dead City, a trip to Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son, created the impression that a six-episode story was all the Walking Dead spinoff needed. In a joint announcement that also included Daryl Dixon season 2, Walking Dead franchise head Scott M. Gimple disclosed the status of Dead City following a lengthy drought of information. “They’re scouting [locations]on Dead City right now,” said Gimple, proving that movement is finally taking place.

During The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, it was confirmed that The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 has been officially greenlit by AMC. Just as The Walking Dead: Dead City season 1’s ending suggested, Maggie and Negan will get at least one more season to resolve their conflict.

Who Is Returning For Season 2?
In addition to Lauren Cohan (Maggie) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Dead City is also bringing back Mahina Napolean (Ginny), and she was confirmed to be returning to film more episodes sometime in 2023 (via MidWeek). And though there’s been no confirmation regarding the other actors returning for the Dead City season 2 cast, it can be assumed that Gauis Armstrong (Perlie) and Željko Ivanek (The Croat) will stay on as series regulars since both of their characters are among the few who survived Dead City’s first chapter. Also, Lisa Emery’s The Dama is poised to serve as a major antagonist.
