The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 3 clip reveals Rick Grimes trying to make a deal with Jadis, who originally brought him to the CRM.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has released a clip ahead of episode 3 that shows Rick Grimes trying to make a deal with Jadis. The Ones Who Live is finally following up on what happened to Rick after Jadis brought him to the Civic Republic Military in The Walking Dead season 9, and Rick’s long-awaited reunion with Michonne. Their reunion is complicated by Jadis, who has a history with Rick and Michonne and knows the secrets they are hiding from the CRM.
The new clip shared by ComicBook.com picks up from The Ones Who Live episode 2 cliffhanger as Jadis threatens Rick and everyone he loves if he tries to escape the CRM with Michonne, leading to Rick desperately trying to make a deal with Jadis. Check out the clip below:
Jadis adamantly turns down Rick’s attempts to make a deal, with Jadi emphasizing that she is now “a believer” in the CRM. Rick’s pleas about how Michonne doesn’t belong in the CRM don’t move Jadis at all.
What Does Jadis Want?
Michonne’s reunion with Rick could be a challenge to Jadis.
Jadis has long been a mysterious character and continues to be a wild card in The Ones Who Live. She was unpredictable as the leader of the Scavengers and as a member of the Alexandria community in The Walking Dead flagship series, and continued to be volatile when she brought Rick to the CRM and lied about him being a “B” when he was actually an “A.” Her scenes in The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2 and the new clip suggest she is now a true believer in the CRM, but her true motives may be more complex.
It’s possible that Jadis was in league with Donald Okafor, the CRM officer who believed in Rick and recruited him to the CRM. Okafor recognized CRM’s problems and hoped to change them from the inside with the help of overlooked leaders, including Rick and Pearl Thorne, who can wield power without abusing it. Given the scale of what Okafor was undertaking, he likely wasn’t working alone. If Jadis was already working with him, she may be leading the charge following Okafor’s death, which is why she needs Rick and Michonne and can’t afford to have them escape the CRM.
On the other hand, Jadis may just be focused on self-preservation. Delivering Rick was her ticket to the CRM, paving the path of opportunity and power afforded to her in the years since. She may just want to ensure her own power and survival, which are now in danger due to Michonne’s recent arrival, and Rick and Michonne’s reunion poses a challenge to her. What Jadis ultimately wants and where she stands will be integral to Rick and Michonne’s futures and the larger conflict with the CRM in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
