Unfortunately, the zipper ripped down the back – which led commenters to compare the dress to a Zara piece and a Boeing plane without a door.

Some fashion fans questioned the quality of Louis Vuitton’s designs.
‘Can a brand that makes a dress for an Oscar actress that doesn’t last even two hours without breaking be considered haute couture?’ one person asked.
‘One prayer for the employee at LV who sewed that zipper. His/her head is on the chop,’ another requested.
‘For high couture, it was a monumental embarrassment at one of the most prestigious glamour event of the season, and the Best Actress category to boot!’ one comment read.
‘Very telling quality (or there lack of) and “craftsmanship” in the last decade or so,’ one fashion fan harrumphed.

However, plenty of fashion lovers were happy to jump to Louis Vuitton’s defense.
‘This is so f****d up – clothes are made by people. If it’s too tight and too bulky- it is at risk of breaking. Since when did Americans become defenders of Perfectionism,’ one wrote.
‘I’m not making excuses for LV but as a stylist invisible zippers have been the bane of my styling career they get stuck when you’re trying to zip them and are prone to separate in the middle I had one explode on me as I was zipping a client into her Emmy gown thankfully I was able to sew her in and yes embarrassing and awkward a gown of this construction has an inner corset and waist cincher to hold the corset and gown in place,’ another person shared.
One commenter clarified, ‘The zipper broke. The seam didn’t come undone. There’s a difference.’
