Seeking her THIRD Academy Award? After winning an Oscar, Emma Stone reunites with filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos for their next feature, Poor Things

Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos already have a third film together in the works.

Following the critical acclaim of their features The Favourite (2018) and Poor Things (2023), for which she earned her second Best Actress Oscar on Sunday, Searchlight Pictures announced the pair have an anthology film hitting theaters on June 21.

While the plot of their forthcoming project is being kept tightly under wraps, the movie, directed by Lanthimos, will star Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.

At the Golden Globes, he told Deadline that Kinds of Kindness is ‘three contemporary stories, and there’s a core of actors — seven total — who play one character in each story.’

‘So, they’ll play three different characters,’ he told the outlet in January.

Poor Things grossed an impressive $108.7 million globally and earned four Academy Awards including Best Actress for Stone’s performance as Bella Baxter, Make-Up and Hairstyling, Costume Design and Production Design.

Meanwhile, The Favourite took home $95 million worldwide and scored Olivia Colman her Best Actress Oscar.

While accepting her award over the weekend, Stone admitted that she began ‘panicking’ the other night while thinking about the possibility of receiving this honor.

‘Yorgos [Lanthimos] said to me, please take yourself out of it,’ Stone told viewers. ‘And he was right, because it’s not about me. It’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts.’

She also thanked Lanthimos for giving her ‘the gift of a lifetime’ in portraying ‘in Bella Baxter.’

Last year, Lanthimos revealed why he loved working with Stone during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

‘Apart from being a great actress, [Emma] is a very unique presence overall,’ he told the outlet. ‘And as soon as I mentioned the story to her, she was immediately excited and just wanted to know everything about the world and read the script.’

He continued: ‘I started discussing who else was going to work on it, how we’re going to film it, like other actors. She just became very fascinated with every aspect of the film.’

‘So that’s also how she ended up being a producer on the film because she was onboard so early on and involved in every aspect of it that it was inevitable that she took that role on as well,’ he added.

The Scottsdale native’s latest win at the Oscars came seven years after taking home the prize for lead actress Oscar for La La Land.
