One Piece Season 2 Video Seemingly Teases Major Grand Line Location

A new video for Netflix’s One Piece season 2 seemingly teases a major Grand Line location is set to be featured in the live-action adaptation.

As audiences eagerly await word on a filming start announcement for the next season, a new One Piece season 2 video seemingly teases a major Grand Line location. Despite scoring a quick renewal from Netflix following rave reviews from critics and audiences and strong viewership numbers, few major updates have been shared in the time since. Star Iñaki Godoy jokingly sparked theories of the Arabasta arc being updated, while co-showrunner Matt Owens and Jamie Lee Curtis have toyed with her casting as Kureha.

In honor of April Fool’s Day, Netflix shared a fun video for One Piece season 2.

In the video, as seen above, star Jacob Romero Gibson can be seen answering fan questions about what’s to come in season 2, humorously sharing that it will contain 50 episodes and be very “Usopp-driven.” The video ends with Gibson being stopped by co-showrunner Matt Owens from revealing the “first look” at season 2, which is shown to be a cartoonish sketch of Luffy facing down a dinosaur, seemingly teasing the major Grand Line location of Little Garden.

Why Little Garden’s Adaptation Would Be Big For One Piece Season 2

The possibility of the live-action One Piece show adapting the Little Garden arc may come as something of a surprise for fans of the source manga and anime. Introduced in chapter 115 of the former, and episode 70 of the latter, Little Garden is a unique island located on the Grand Line, and is actually the second location the Straw Hat Pirates visit after making it to the uncharted ocean route. Thanks to its dense jungle climate and slow evolution, it actually inhabits an array of dinosaurs and volcanoes, as well as a vacation resort.

Should One Piece season 2 be heading to the island per the video tease, it would seemingly indicate that the live-action show is tackling its source somewhat out of order in the next season, or trimming down the arcs before it. Owens previously assured that Loguetown, which was three story arcs before Little Garden, had not been skipped and was instead being saved for a more meaningful adaptation rather than a rushed one. There is also still the Reverse Mountain and Whisky Peak arcs to adapt after Loguetown, which introduce the key characters of Vivi and Baroque Works.

That being said, Little Garden’s inclusion in One Piece season 2 doesn’t necessarily spell trouble for how the show adapts its upcoming arcs. The Reverse Mountain story was only two episodes, which could ultimately be merged into one for the show’s 50-minute episodes, while Loguetown was six and Whisky Peak was four, seemingly taking up the rest of season 2’s bulk. However, should Owens and the creative team look to keep audiences hooked with a season 3 cliffhanger, the introduction of Little Garden would be perfect as Luffy and his crew discover the dinosaur-inhabited island.
