Nicki Minaj‘s Pink Friday 2 Tour has been filled with explosive performances and unexpected guest appearances, and her stop in Philly was no different.
On Friday (March 29), the 41-year-old passed through the City of Brotherly Love for a show at the Wells Fargo Center. During her set, the “Barbie World” hitmaker even brought out local icons Freeway and the Young Gunz.
“#GAGCITYPhilly took the [cake emoji],” she captioned a collage from the show on Instagram. “What an incredible SOLD OUT arena filled with love, fun, sassy, sexy, funny, adorable, endearing human beings. Love you guys SOOOO very much. Thank you.
“A HUGE THANK YOU TO #ChrisAndNeef & #Freeway for blessing #GAGCITY with their presence tonight. That means a lot to me. REAL NIGG@AZ ONLY. Wishing everyone who hit the stage tonight blessings on blessings.”
She concluded the post by basking in the glory of her latest sales accolades, writing: “Last 3 slides of @republicrecords presenting me with plaques in Jersey [nervous emoji, heart-gesture emoji] #SuperBass is 12X Platinum. Highest selling song by a solo female rapper in HISTORY.”
Young Chris subsequently took to social media to covey his appreciation for the opportunity, writing: “PinkFriday2 was [three fire emojis] appreciate U @nickiminaj.”
Likewise, Freeway also gave Nicki and her supporting act Monica a shoutout on Instagram soon after the show.
“The affection you feel in your hometown is genuinely one-of-a-kind!” he wrote. “I extend my gratitude to my sister @monicadenise and heartfelt appreciation to the queen @nickiminaj for inviting us to ROC her stage. It was an incredible experience, and she delivered an outstanding performance!”
During her concert in Newark, New Jersey earlier this week, Nicki Minaj welcomed another legendary rapper on stage.
Taking to her Instagram Story following a performance at the Prudential Center, she named Jadakiss as one of her favorite rappers of all time as she thanked him for stopping by to surprise her crowd.
“The one and only Jadakiss graced #GagCity with his presence tonight and I couldn’t feel more honored,” she wrote. “One of my faves of ALL time. Y’all know that’s the truth. Kiss, thank you.”
Fivio Foreign also stopped by as a special guest for a live performance of their collab, “We Go Up.”
As previously mentioned, her blockbuster hit “Super Bass” has now been certified 12 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Signifying at least 12 million sales or sales-equivalent units, this makes it the highest certified single ever released in the United States by a female rapper. That record formerly belonged to Cardi B’s 2017 hit “Bodak Yellow,” which was certified 11 times platinum in 2022.
The Queens MC reacted to the achievement on social media just seconds after Chart Data broke the news, writing: “POW!!! thank you to Republic Records for always having my back barrrbz!!!!!!”
Additionally, her most recent LP Pink Friday 2 was also recently certified platinum, which now means all of her studio albums have hit or surpassed said benchmark.
