First besties, now musical collaborators. Just days after the highly-anticipated release of Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets Department, Swifties are reeling after finding a subtle Easter egg that seems to hint that Emma Stone contributed to the album. Numerous fans took to social media following the LP’s debut to share proof that Stone is apparently listed as a collaborator on the Tortured Poets Department liner notes for “Florida!!!”, a song that’s believed to be about the aftermath of Swift’s break up with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
Stone – who’s been a close friend to the “Cruel Summer” singer since they met in 2008 – is listed as contributing mysterious “oddities” to the track, which details Swift’s desire to escape to Destin after a heartbreak. Jack Antonoff and Florence Welch are also both listed in the contributing section, although their additions are much more specific, i.e. lead vocals and various instruments. The liner also showed that the song had been recorded in New Orleans, which appears to line up with the timeline of Swift and Antonoff working together on a song at Esplanade Studios on the singer’s birthday back on Dec. 13, 2022 – months before the news officially broke in April 2023 that the “Down Bad” star and Alwyn had called it quits after six years together. The plot thickens, because Alwyn and Stone were also reportedly in New Orleans at that same time, filming their movie And on Swift’s birthday. She’s also set to star along her The Favourite co-star in Kinds of Kindness, which is set for release in June.

Whatever “oddities” Stone contributed to the song, it’s not surprising that Swift would trust her to work with her on The Tortured Poets Department. After all, the pair are each other’s biggest cheerleaders, most recently when the La La Land actress gave Swift a subtle shout-out during her Oscars acceptance speech. Stone also went viral for her over-the-top reaction to seeing her BFF perform during the Eras Tour, and the “Karma” singer returned the favor by showing up to support her at Stone’s Poor Things premiere.

Stone is also rumored to be the inspiration behind Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) vault song, “When Emma Falls in Love,” so you know she’s a forever member of Swift’s squad.
