Only a few days after his remarkable victory over Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia has his sights set on a fight with Errol Spence Jr.
Following an extended sequence of strange and unsettling social media statements that raised questions about his health, Garcia started his fight against former amateur rival Haney as a significant underdog.
Garcia put on a career-best performance at the Barclays Center, scoring three knockdowns en route to winning by majority decision, despite missing the 140 pound weight limit by three pounds.
With the win, Garcia competed for the first time under the guidance of renowned trainer Derrick James, who was Spence’s head coach before.
After Spence lost to Terence Crawford in July for the first time in his professional career, the two collaborated for over ten years before calling it quits.

Earlier this week it emerged that James has filed a lawsuit against the former welterweight champion regarding his payment for last summer’s superfight, alleging that he received just $250,000 despite claiming to be owed 10% of Spence’s total purse which was reported to be $25million.
James is said to be seeking ‘no less than’ $5m in damages, for alleged fraud and breach of contract with Spence counter suing his former coach in a bid to get the complaint dismissed.
In a video posted on social media, Garcia took aim at Spence and vowed to knock the 34-year-old.
‘Spence has got beef with my coach.
‘What’s good? Come see me. You want to sue him? I want to beat you up. [I will] knock out Errol, nice.’

Spence isn’t the only fighter Garcia has clashed with on social media in recent days however.
The 25-year-old engaged in a heated exchange with Conor Benn on X, insisting he would ‘fracture [Benn’s] SPLEIN(sic) and then eat it’ and called for the pair to fight at the O2 Arena in London.
