Nike threw another enormous event in Paris to commemorate the debut of the “New Lights” and “Under The Radar” colorways of the Mercurial Superfly 7 and Vapor 13. These boots will be worn for the first time in the Women’s World Cup Final on Sunday in Lyon, which is further south. The blue “New Lights” release will be worn by fast players from the United States and the Netherlands, kicking off a new era of Nike speed. But first, the Swoosh did something unusual: a hit set in Paris.

There was fast-paced football on a blue field, foreign players from both men’s and women’s sports, and a drone carrying the Mercurial against a stunning backdrop in Paris’s Nanterre area. It was the ideal way to conclude one season and begin the next. Jadon Sancho, Caroline Graham of Norway, and Andressa Alves of Brazil competed on the field before Nike designers discussed the new Mercurial project’s operations.
Stay tuned for in-depth conversations with Nike’s design team on how they created the next Mercurial and the hurdles they encountered. There will also be an interview with Jadon Sancho on his expanded involvement at Nike in the next generation of shoes, his outstanding 2018-19 season, and what is next for the Dortmund and England player. Oh, and the fundamental Mercurial motions are not yet complete. Tomorrow (July 8), the first limited edition drop will be available.
