Ariana Grande spoke about being ‘heartbroken’ after learning that her longtime drummer, Aaron Spears, had passed away.
She made the comments on a post that was shared on the late musician’s Instagram on Monday.
The 30-year-old singer left a note to publicly show her grief after the former member of her touring crew’s wife, Jessica, posted a lengthy tribute to her deceased husband, who died at the age of 47.
The hitmaker, who recently finalized her divorce, also wrote that she wanted to send ‘my condolences to you all. I love you guys and I am so sorry. My heart is with you.’
Jessica, who had been married to Aaron for 11 years prior to his passing, began her message by writing about his love for their child.

‘Aaron was not only an incredibly accomplished drummer, admired by many for his unparalleled talent and passion for music, but he was also a devoted father to our precious son, August,’ she wrote.
She continued: ‘His love guidance, and warmth were the pillars of our family, and his absence leaves a void that words cannot describe. We are blessed to have him in our lives, his legacy will live on through the beautiful rhythms he created and the love he shared with us.’
Jessica concluded her message by writing: ‘We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Please remember Aaron for the incredible person he was and the amazing music he brought into our world.’
The performer’s wife did not publicly reveal the cause of her husband’s death in her statement.
Grande was joined by several other figures from the entertainment industry in showing her grief regarding Aaron’s passing, including Questlove, who wrote a short note that simply read: ‘I can’t believe this.’
The singer went on to share a lengthier tribute to the drummer on her Instagram Story, where she shared a black-and-white photo of the musician behind a drum kit.
The Thank U, Next songwriter penned a message in which she wrote that she could not ‘wrap her head around’ Aaron’s death.
The hitmaker wrote: ‘We were all so incredibly lucky to know Aaron. The absolute brightest light of a human being. Always the kindest, always smiling, I am so honored and thankful that our paths crossed.’
She also thanked the drummer ‘for your utter brilliance, for our laughs, and for your kindness always. I will miss your hugs.’
Grande concluded her message by writing: ‘You are so, so loved and will be so very missed.’
According to Drumeo, Spears performed with numerous artists and acts, including Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus during his lifetime.
He also earned a Grammy nomination in 2004 for his work on Usher’s fourth studio album, Confessions.
The performer went on to serve as James Brown’s drummer during a performance at the following year’s Grammy Awards ceremony.
He was also a collaborator with Justin Bieber, who also paid tribute to him on Monday.

It takes two: Justin Bieber paid tribute to Spears on Monday with video of a small performance they gave together. In his second clip, Justin took over on the drum throne, while Spears stood to his side and continued drumming

The hitmaker shared a video to his Instagram Stories of what looked like a small club performance with Spears on drums.
In the first clip, Spears set up a grooving beat while the band’s bassist played an equally funky line as Justin took a break to slowly walk to the side of the stage to kiss Hailey.
But in the second video, Justin took over on the drum set throne, while Spears stood to his side and continued drumming alongside him on the same set.
