‘This is truly dangerous,’ woman cries over unsafe situation at her home & slams city for ‘not trying’ to fix it

A HOMEOWNER is furious and concerned for her safety after city officials continue to ignore a growing hazard at her home.

Sheila Pigram from Washington Park, Illinois has been living on a precipice for years.

Just meters away from her front porch, a sidewalk has completely cracked and fallen apart, leaving a huge gap in front of it.

The resident who struggles with a health condition that can cause seizures has spoken out about her growing concern after city officials have taken no action.

“I could walk through here anytime and have a seizure and just fall, and end up busting my head. That is my concern,” she told Fox News affiliate KTVI.

“This is truly dangerous. Not just for me, (but) for the kids that ride their bikes here.”

“The sidewalks are a joke they are crumbling and everything like that,” another resident added.

“We made calls [to the city] about them but as you can see nobody did anything about it.”

City officials have been aware of the issue for several years, according to Pigram.

She claimed that workers came out last week after multiple complaints, but they just “looked at it.”

“They still not trying to get anything done,” the resident said.

Pigram said the situation makes her “feel terrible” as she believes the city is making no effort to resolve the issue.

However, the Mayor of Washington Park, Leonard Moore, says that there are numerous problems in the neighborhood that he is trying to solve but is being blocked by others.

Discussing the sidewalk he agreed with residents that it is a hazard and that it has been an issue since before he took up his position.

“It’s not the only one…but this is something that’s been happening over years and years,” he told the news outlet.

“We are doing what we can do with what we have.”

Moore claimed that he has been struggling “for several months” to get funding approved for fixes such as these.

The Mayor said that the state ordered the board of trustees to give him approval to receive the grants which add up to millions of dollars for the community.

However, he claims the board would not “vote for me to accept the money from the state.”

Despite these setbacks, the community now has the funding for the sidewalk and other issues, Moore told the outlet.

There is still no timeline for the hazard to be fixed though.

“We will get to it…we have millions of dollars specifically for that,” Moore added.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Washington Park for comment.

Meanwhile, a Veteran in Idaho claims that he is being forced out of his home of 23 years after a Homeowners Association arrived last year and is charging him fees of $3,500.
