The Truth Behind Gio’s Recognition Of Jason, Could Drew Be Gio’s Father?

General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease there could be a reason why Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) seemed to recognize Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

There could also be a reason why Gio seems to bear a resemblance to a young Jason-could Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) have another son he doesn’t know about?

General Hospital Spoilers – Gio Palmieri Could Be A Little Older Than Oscar Nero

Gio told Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) his father was dead-as far as he knew, and that he was deployed in 2002; Drew’s son, Oscar Nero (Garren Stitt) was born in 2002.

Drew didn’t know about him because he disappeared-at the time, he’d been captured by the Cassadines for the memory swap experiments.

It’s possible that the story of his father’s deployment was simply created by his mother because she didn’t know what happened to his father.

Drew was already a Navy Seal high up in the ranks when he was in San Diego, where he was involved with Oscar’s mother, Kim Nero (Tamara Braun).

It’s entirely possible that Gio’s mother and Drew were involved before he and Kim were, and it was his deployment to San Diego Gio’s mother spoke of.

GH Spoilers – We Know He Can’t Be Jason Morgan’s Son

We know Gio can’t be Jason’s son but before the wreck that messed up Drew’s face which he had to have plastic surgery for, he and Jason were identical twins.

That’s why when Kim first saw Jason she thought he was Drew-they were at Thanksgiving dinner with the Corinthos family.

That was when Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) were still married. We know from the memories that Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) received when he had them downloaded into his brain that Drew grew up in upstate New York.

Specifically, he attended high school in the town of Sawyer, near Niagara Falls, but he could have spent some time in Bensonhurst, during his Navy years.

General Hospital Spoilers – So Why Would Gio’s Last Name Be Palmieri?

So why would Gio’s last name be Palmieri if Drew were his father-one reason might be that at the time Drew may have been undercover in a Navy mission.

That makes sense, considering that he could have been conceived when Drew was on shore leave or perhaps dated on his times off.

Then he could have been deployed again, and considering like Kim’s experience, she never heard from him again she had to come up with something to tell their son.

After all, it’s better to have been loved and your baby daddy deployed on a naval mission than your baby having been the result of a short-term relationship and he disappeared!

Gio’s mom probably had some photos of herself and Drew when he still looked like Jason that Gio’s seen as a child.
