Explore the Tatras. The area is ideal for hiking. The town is right next to Tatra National Park. There are many trails. You can hike for a day on most trails. During your vacation, you might also consider a full-day hike to a peak. Then, you can return to town and enjoy a glass or two of mulled cider.

Hike in the Tatras. Lake Morskie Oko (or the Eye of the Sea) is the largest of the Tatras, at 2,800 feet long. It will require a bus ride to the trail’s base. It’s about a 2-hour walk from there through the impressive permaculture.

Tatra National Park. It is located in the Tatra Mountains in the southern middle of Poland. The national park covers an area of 81.71 mi. The border between Slovakia and Poland is shared by the Tatra Mountains. Slovakia invests in mountain protection with the sister national park of the same name (Tatra National Park Slovakia). This region is part of the mountainous area of Poland. It includes the Western Tatras and High Tatras. The Tatras are known for their stunning rock formations and sharp-jagged peaks. Rysy is the highest summit of Poland, reaching an elevation of 8,199 feet.

Try Smoked Cheese. Oscypek is a delicious smoked sheep’s-milk cheese. It is a local favorite and can be found at stands all over Zakopane, as well as in other mountain lodges around the region.

View the Zakopane Style Architectural Design. Zakopane has its own style of architectural design. The buildings reflect the spirit of Podhale. Stanislaw Witkiewicz was the original creator of this style. He transformed the town in the late 1800s. The homes in the city center have detailed embellishments and wood rounded windows.

Your hiking skills are up to the test. The Rysy Mountain is the highest peak of Poland and lies just on the border to Slovakia. The climb up the mountain is not easy and can be quite steep at times. However, most outdoor enthusiasts can do it. The peak offers the most stunning views of the Tatras on a clear day.
