At an NFL game in Germany, Patrick Mahomes and Antoine Griezmann exchange jerseys.

Kansas City Chiefs played the Miami Dolphins in Frankfurt

Patrick Mahomes is one of the NFL‘s most popular players, with his reach extending far beyond North America, and he won yet another game on Sunday as the Chiefs beat the Dolphins 21-14.

However, after the end of the game the focus was on his interactions with those in the crowd in Frankfurt, and he met Antoine Griezmann.

The Atletico Madrid forward has a keen interest in American sports, although he has previously been most interested in the NBA rather than NFL.

He swapped jerseys with Mahomes after they each signed them on Sunday afternoon, with images being captured for the pair’s respective social media pages.

How did Patrick Mahomes play in Germany?

Whilst his work off the field was excellent in driving PR for the NFL, Mahomes actually played rather well in the team’s seventh victory of the season.

Many expected the Dolphins to take a victory in Frankfurt, such has been their electric offensive capabilities this term.

However, it was Mahomes who ran the show, throwing two touchdown passes for a total of 185 yards in his European debut.

It was a drop in his recent standards, but it was still enough to win the game. By the time the game ended, Patrick Mahomes had completed 20 of his 30 passes.

Miami’s defense was able to stifle him in the second-half with 185 yards his lowest of the season so far, although without his two touchdowns the Chiefs wouldn’t have been able to win.

“Obviously, penalties and then me not connecting on guys deep down the field hurt us, but luckily for us our defense is playing their tail off and we got the win,” Mahomes declared.

Atletico Madrid and Griezmann were unlucky in defeat on Friday evening, which gave the French forward time to travel to Germany and watch the game.

He will be back in action on Tuesday in Spain when Atleti take on Celtic in the Champions League.
