British MMA star Modestas Bukauskas suffers BRUTAL KO defeat against Vitor Petrino at UFC Sao Paulo, after Brazilian delivered huge left hook to win the light heavyweight fight

British fighter Modestas Bukauskas suffered a brutal KO defeat against Vitor Petrino at UFC Sao Paulo on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old took to the octagon for his seventh fight in the UFC and his third since re-signing with the organisation at the start of the year.

However, things did not go to plan for the British and Lithuanian fighter, who was dealt a brutal KO defeat in the second round of the bout.

Bukauskas stepped into a left-hook from his opponent and was sent crashing down to the canvas, with referee Marc Goddard swiftly intervening to end the bout.

The result sees Bukauskas suffer his first defeat since re-joining the UFC, having initially been released by the organisation in October 2021.

After the fight, Brazilian star Petrino said: ‘The strategy was to put on a show. I wanted to knock him out as soon as possible.

‘I’ve gotten a submission, I’ve gotten a bonus so I told my coach I wanted a knockout.’

The light heavyweight star now boasts a 10-0 professional record, after winning his opening three fights in the UFC.

In the card’s main event, Derrick Lewis suffered a unanimous decision defeat against Jailton Almeida on Saturday night.

The 38-year-old was searching for a successive win in the UFC heavyweight division, having secured a TKO victory over Marcos Rogério de Lima in his last bout.

However, things did not go to plan for the American, who was dealt a fourth defeat in his last five UFC bouts after a dominant grappling display from Almeida.

The Brazilian controlled most of the fight on the ground, with his 21:10 control time setting a new single-fight UFC heavyweight record.

Lewis had no answer to his counterparts grappling and wrestling skills, leading the judges to score the bout unanimously in Almeida’s favour, 50-44 50-44 50-45.
