In the most recent NFL Germany game, the Kansas City Chiefs handled the Miami Dolphins soundly. While the Chiefs’ triumph was a collective effort, one individual, as usual, got all the praise post-match: quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Michael Irvin describes Patrick Mahomes as “God” playing football

NFL analyst Michael Irvin didn’t hold back in his praise of Mahomes’ performance and influence. “Patrick Mahomes is basically God playing quarterback,” Irvin proclaimed. Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 21-14 victory over the Dolphins, yet the game didn’t feature his typically stellar numbers. With only 185 passing yards, Mahomes recorded a season-low. Moreover, his connection with star tight end Travis Kelce wasn’t as prolific as usual, with just three completions between them. Despite these figures, Irvin recognizes the value Mahomes brings to the team. “He doesn’t have quite the talent he needs at wide receiver, but he always makes just enough plays to keep them in the game,” he stated, alluding to Mahomes’ ability to maximize the potential of his receiving corps, regardless of the circumstances.

Irvin’s remarks echo a sentiment that’s been solidifying among football analysts and fans alike: Mahomes is a “phenomenal, phenomenal talent.” This belief isn’t only grounded in his physical abilities but also in leadership qualities, characteristics that are perhaps best shown by his ability this season to secure wins even when the Chiefs’ offense isn’t firing on all cylinders.

With this win, the Chiefs improved their record to 7-2, positioning themselves comfortably as they head into their bye week-a much-needed rest for players. The bye week also allows time for the team to address any areas of improvement, particularly in bolstering the wide receiver options for Mahomes, which could further enhance their offensive play.

Looking ahead, the Chiefs are set to face the NFC’s best, Philadelphia Eagles on November 20th. The upcoming game presents another opportunity for Mahomes to showcase his skills in a Super Bowl rematch.
