Amber Heard marks Hollywood comeback with chilling trailer for In The Fire

The first trailer for In The Fire has been released, marking Amber Heard’s return to the big screen.

The 37-year-old took a step back from the spotlight last year, following her high-profile defamation trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Following the case, in which a jury sided with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor and awarded him $8million, she relocated to Spain for a few months.

She is set to make a comeback very soon thanks to a new psychological thriller set in 1890, in which she plays psychiatrist Grace Burnam, who visits Colombia to treat a disturbed young boy.

However, all is not as it seems as she learns that locals believe he is possessed by the devil in a chilling twist.

When those in the village take out their anger on the youngster, played by Lorenzo McGovern Zaini, it is down to Grace to get to the bottom of things.

‘Those people are scared,’ she warns her concerning new patient. ‘And they need something to blame for that fear. And it’s you.’

The flick was directed by Conor Allyn, and also stars Eduardo Noriega, Luca Calvani and Sophie Amber.

We don’t have long to wait for the thriller, which is set to be released in cinemas next month – before her return in the Aquaman franchise later this year.

Amber wrapped on In The Fire last March, shortly before her trial with her former partner began in Virginia.

‘The film is a meditation on the almost supernatural powers of love told through a strong-willed and independent woman at the turn of the 20th century,’ she told People Magazine in a statement ahead of the Sag-Aftra strike.

‘I feel honored to be part of this labor of love and to be the lead in Conor Allyn’s vision.

‘I feel lucky to be surrounded by such an amazing cast. They’re as dedicated and magical as the characters they play.’

In The Fire isn’t the only project that Amber has in the works, as she has reprised her role as Mera in the upcoming superhero flick Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – which will hit the big screen in December.

Little is known about the plot of the eagerly-anticipated film, with an official synopsis reading: ‘Aquaman forges an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally in a bid to save Atlantis and the rest of the planet.’
