Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku has now taken to social media to praise one of his teammates for his performance yesterday.
He commented on the Instagram post of Raheem Sterling after his inspired display yesterday afternoon in the Premier League affair against his former side.
Sterling scored his first goal ever against Manchester City when he was on hand to tuck away a Reece James cross from close range to make it 2-1 to the hosts.
No one on the pitch was prepared for what was to come though, especially after such entertainment just seven days ago.
If the win over Spurs was enjoyable for the wrong reasons, this 4-4 draw with the treble winners was enjoyable for the pure quality on display from both sides.
Sterling was arguably the standout performer for the Blues, with it looking as if he felt like he had a point to prove.
Nkunku praises Sterling
Whether that is down to his recent omission from the England squad or just facing a former side, his hunger was unmatched by a player on either side.
It seems like his teammates both on and off the pitch noticed this too, after he posted on Instagram following the game.
One of those who was particularly impressed was Nkunku, who described his performance as ‘electric’.
The Frenchman is slowly getting closer to making a return from injury that will allow him to make his debut for the club he joined over the summer.
He was pictured on an exercise bike alongside Sterling last week, with there being confidence he can return to proper training following this international break.
With the ability of those who started against City yesterday, he may even have a tough time breaking into the side right now.
