One Dragon Ball GT Villain Makes the Kamehameha Look Like a Complete Joke

Even though Goku’s signature Dragon Ball attack, the Kamehameha, is incredibly powerful, one Dragon Ball GT villain made it look like a total joke.

The Kamehameha is one of the most devastating ki blasts in the history of Dragon Ball, and it just so happens to be the signature move of arguably the strongest warrior in the universe, Goku–however, despite how powerful the attack or its users are, one Dragon Ball GT villain makes the Kamehameha look like a complete joke.

While the Kamehameha Wave is most often associated with Goku, the technique was actually created by Master Roshi. In Dragon Ball chapter 14 by Akira Toriyama, Roshi introduces fans to the Kamehameha for the first time when he uses it to extinguish the fires of Fire Mountain. In that chapter, Roshi reveals that it took him fifty years to master this original technique, though Goku learned the attack in seconds. Just as Goku had the power to essentially master the Kamehameha Wave upon his first attempt, he was also strong enough to increase the power of the attack to an infinite degree. The Kamehameha went from being a technique that extinguished fires to one that could blow up the planet with a single blast–and that’s all thanks to Goku mastery of the move and the inherent Saiyan power he’s able to put into it. Goku not only adopted the technique from Master Roshi, but he truly made it his own–and over time, he passed it down to his children the same way Master Roshi passed it down to him.

Baby Made the Kamehameha Not Just Useless, but a Liability

In Dragon Ball GT season 1, episode 26 (written by Junki Takegami, directed by Osamu Kasai, produced by Toei Animation), GT’s powerful Machine Mutant villain, Baby, has come to Earth in search of Vegeta as he wanted to take over his body and merge his power with the Saiyan’s to conquer the universe. In his search, Baby possessed a number of regular humans and used them to cause havoc in the city, hoping to get the Saiyan’s attention. After some time, Baby succeeded in his mission–but he got the attention of the wrong Saiyan: Goten. So, Goten challenged this seemingly normal person before Baby removed his ‘human skin-suit’ to reveal his true form–at which point, the two engaged in an epic battle. While Goten fought well, he simply wasn’t a match for Baby who was only waiting for Goten to reach his full power before possessing him. Baby’s strength and near invulnerability was so impressive, in fact, that when Goten went Super Saiyan and shot him directly with a massively powerful Kamehameha, Baby simply turned his body to goo and rode the energy stream back towards Goten until he made contact with his skin, then Baby proceeded to possess him.

Baby’s display of power in this episode is astounding as he not only survives an attack that has the capability to destroy planets–and that has successfully obliterated a number of other enemies in the past–but he used it against his opponent in a way that they couldn’t combat. The Kamehameha is a stream of energy emitted from one’s hands as it requires a steady push of power from the martial artist to be as deadly as it is. Baby used this to connect himself with the fighter he was trying to possess, in this case, Goten. Plus, it isn’t as though more power would have killed him as Baby patiently waited for Goten to get as strong as possible before pulling off this counter-attack, so, in Baby’s eyes, the stronger, the better.

The Kamehameha has a well-noted history in Dragon Ball as it has long been the iconic, signature attack used by Goku and anyone else he decides to teach it to, but in one move, Dragon Ball GT’s Baby made it look like a complete joke.
