The film depicts the biggest hero versus hero story-line in comic book history.
But behind the scenes it looks like Captain America, Scarlet Witch and Crossbones are getting along just fine.
The trio were spotted taking a break between scenes as they film Marvels’ next opus Civil War in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday.

Funny bones: Chris Evans, Elizabeth Olsen and Frank Grillo were spotted sharing a laugh between takes of Captain America: Civil War in Atlanta Georgia on Wednesday
Chris Evans wore his iconic red, white and blue costume, but swapped the Cap’s cap for a much cooler looking pair of shades as he dished out high fives and even throwing his arm around 26-year-old Elizabeth Olsen, who is reprising her role as the reality-altering witch.
Unlike Evans’ almost carbon copy of his comic book character’s outfit, as Olsen’sΒ Wanda Maximoff gets away with wearing a much more ‘normal’ outfit of black biker boots and leggings, with a green jacket over a navy top.
The two Avengers stars joked around with Frank Grillo, still in Crossbones’ tactical armour, but like his nemesis he was allowed to take off his intimidating skull helmet while the camera stopped rolling.
Bessies: The 33-year-old even threw his arm around his 26-year-old co-star
Bewitching: Olsen was seen conjuring some magic in a very Scarlet Witch pose
The relaxed scene was polar opposite to photos published on Monday, which showed the enemies locked in ferocious hand to hand combat.
Grillo’s character appeared in the last Captain America film – The Winter Soldier – when he was revealed to be an undercover HYDRA agent who had infiltrated SHIELD.
Meanwhile Olsen’s witch wasn’t the only scarlet thing on set – The Black Widow was on hand too.
Good job: Her efforts earned her a couple of high-fives from Evans
Relaxed: The action star looked happy to remove the Cap’s cap and replace it with a pair of shades
Scarlett Johansson also appeared in civvies too, wearing knee high brown boots, tight black jeans and a tan coat, along with the Russian assassin’s trademark red hair.
The actress appears to have gotten into a tussle too as she was covered in dirt – dirtier even than her stunt double.
In Civil War however, the Cap will have much bigger problems on his hands: the film is based on the graphic novel by Mark Millar, in which laws introduced to regulate superhero powers.
The idea is supported by Iron Man but opposed by Captain America, and pretty much every superhero in the Marvel universe gets dragged into the resulting fallout.
The other woman: Also spotted on set was the film’s other Scarlett: Johansson
Great gig: The 30-year-old reprises her role as Black Widow for the fifth time
Seeing double: The actress was keeping a close eye on her stunt double
Getting her hands dirty: Johansson was covered in dirt suggesting she’d had a scuffle – though her double looked a deal cleaner
With the licensing mess that is the comic book publishers’ film rights, the likes of the X-Men and Fantastic Four – which appear in the comic but whose film rights are owned by 20th Century Fox – are unlikely to make an appearance.
However after a recent deal between Disney, which owns pretty much the rest of Marvel and Sony which owns Spider-Man, the webslinger may make to make his historic Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Civil War.
Already set to appear are Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier, Chadwick Boseman as The Black Panther, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Don Cheadle as War Machine, William Hurt as General Thaddeus Ross, and Martin Freeman in an as-yet unspecified role, as well as the entire superhero cast from The Avengers.
Origins: Civil War is based on the Marvel graphic novel by Mark Millar, in which laws are introduced to regulate superhero powers.
Whose side is she on? The Marvel universe is divided, with Iron Man and one side and Captain America on the other
Not so friendly now: earlier this week Garron and Evans didn’t look quite so pally as they threw down
Traitor: In The Winter Soldier, Crossbones’ alter ego Brock Rumlow is revealed to be a HYRDA agent who infiltrated SHIELD
