Elizabeth Olsen wishes she could “just disappear” and has rejected social media to retain her privacy.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron star explained she wants people to focus on her work rather than giving them access to her private life.
Speaking in Fashion magazine’s May 2015 issue, she said: “I don’t [use] social media, and I feel like that’s how people control their image.
“My image, in my mind, is just to disappear. I just want people to see the work that I’m proud of.
“I feel like you let people touch you when you have Instagram or Twitter, and I don’t want to be touched all the time. I’m not going to do it – ever.”
The 26-year-old actress – whose older sisters are twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – also hit out at the way she and her “generation” is portrayed by the media, insisting there is more to them than being “slackers”.
She added: “It is so annoying to me the way my generation is written about – that we are all entitled slackers and hackers.”
Elizabeth – who will play Wanda Maximoff’s alter-ego The Scarlett Witch in Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster – also discussed having to reject certain roles because she doesn’t want to add to the “violence in the world”.
She explained: “I read this brilliant script the other day that is a thriller but I had to say no to it.
“There’s enough violence in the world, why add to it? Superhero movies are about destroying robots not people so that doesn’t count.

“Besides, all the heroes – especially in Marvel comics – are about heralding the underdog or the outsider.
