General Hospital (GH) spoilers and updates tease Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) has big plans to become a televangelist.
Might he become the next cult leader in Port Charles, like Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin)?
General Hospital Spoilers – Nina Reeves Gave Him A Deal
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) gave him a deal in exchange for his dropping assault charges against Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) although as badly as he was beaten, he shouldn’t have.
Sonny just beat the elderly former mobster nearly to death, and as Cyrus kept turning the other cheek, Sonny almost broke them both!
At the time, Nina gave him a deal of a television show on a station connected to Aurora Media, Crimson Magazine’s parent company.
Since that time, she may not be able to keep that promise, but that is now and that was then.
Cyrus could still get the television show spot promised if Nina made the contract between the magazine and him, and not her personally.
GH Spoilers – Truly Changed, Or Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing?
There’s an old saying from the military folks that there aren’t any atheists in foxholes-that means many cry out to God for help in life or death situations. But that doesn’t mean that the ones crying out for help truly change-people can, but they have to want to and it’s hard work.
The big question here with Cyrus is whether he had a foxhole conversion or he’s really being a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
He may make his television show aspirations sound like saving souls, but he could become famous and eventually get a following big enough to rival Dawn of Day and Shiloh.
With fame and large followings, that means large offerings and donations-and easy money for a Elmer Gantry type charlatan, using the word of God to fleece the flock.
General Hospital Spoilers – The Proof’s In The Profits
When an evangelist, on tv or not, is in it for the money and not for the true evangelism, the proof’s in the profits. If one has a tv broadcast they pay for and a large church building, there are expenses, and there are expenses for traveling evangelists.
It’s the ones who have large profit margins people have to watch out for, the ones who spend a lot of ministry money on extravagant things.
Cyrus would certainly be tested if his tv broadcast becomes popular enough to make him lots of easy money, and very little spent on charitable programs and missionaries.
It could go to his head as well, if he became a well-loved preacher, his viewers having no idea of his past-although the Apostle Paul previously killed Christians-there is that.
